Warrior fanfiction: Strikestar's treachery prolouge
Silence. Dull, shadow-layden grass shivered in the stiff, heavy air. Swathes of fog drifted slowly across the dark, quiet clearing. Phantom-like trees erected like pillars, surrounding the space, their leaves suffocating any illumination that could hope to get in. A granite-colored rock sat by the edge of the clearing, next to a clump of dry, old moss. A sluggish stream trickled by, black and unnatural-looking in the lighting. A shadow slunk by, creeping towards the boulder. Reaching the rock, the shadow sat upon it, claiming it as his own. It was a cat, with dark purple fur, and a deep gash in his throat. His eyes opened, gleaming a light purple-blue, in the foggy, weighty air. His mouth slowly turned up into a wicked smile as he spotted a cat walking slowly in the darkened distance, as if unsure about why they're there. He flicked his tail like a whip, and a russet-furred cat darted out of the shadows before abruptly stopping, waiting for her command. She had green eyes the color of the tree leaves that block out the stars, and a wide scar running down her back and side. One of her eyes was torn viciously, the fur and skin around it completely disfigured. “Rustpelt,” the purple cat called the russet one’s name slowly, with a tone of threat hidden in the leader’s voice. “What is it that you ask of me, sir?” Rustpelt inquired humbly, as her leader looked out into the distance eerily. “You see that cat over there?” He indicated the cat in the distance with a flick of his tail. His voice was calm and threatening. “Yes. What about them?” Rustpelt once again questioned. In response to this interruption, the leader sprang from the rock, knocking Rustpelt down before swiping at her, claws unsheathed, causing blood to spurt out and cover his paw. His lip curled in disgust as his slave didn’t even put up a fight. Rustpelt sat up, bleeding from a gash in her side, and began to lick the wound. The leader leapt back onto the rock without a glance at Rustpelt, who was still licking her wound pitifully. “So now that we’ve got that little problem out of the way, i need you to do something.” the leader snarled, irritation radiating off his pelt. Rustpelt shrunk down in her fur. “A-anything, sir!” She answered, ready to repent for her error. “I want you to bring me that cat. Alive.” His gaze gave away nothing as he stared into the shadows. Rustpelt slipped past the dark, unmoving trees as she went to bring her master what he requested.
